so how smoky is it?

Here is a picture from last fall:

Here is a picture I took today from a slightly different angle:

Hmmm, somehow that doesn't quite convey the difference. We can actually smell the smoke today.  Some rain would be good.

Edited 9/24:  It is much worse in U-Town so now I am feeling whine-y for complaining. We are all wishing there was some rain in the forecast, though.

  2. You can see how smoky it is, but I'm sure the smell really reinforces it.

I guess you took down your rant from the other day? I just so much agreed with it and found so much worthwhile in it but had to go process for a bit before responding.

    1. Thank you, Karen. I still have it, and tried to edit it so I would feel comfortable putting it back up, but so far I haven't been able to get it there. Let me know if you have any advice.

    1. Thanks, Delia. I'm wondering if maybe I pour a libation of wine somewhere, or do a rain dance, it might work. Oddly, this is the most beautiful fall we've had in years--not a cloud in the sky, about 75 degrees every day. we just can't enjoy it because of all the smoke (which I'm told is from fires in Idaho).

  4. We're getting someone else's smoke too. Eastern Oregon is the usual culprit. We can smell it as well. I'm enjoying the no rain though, for I know it is soon to arrive...... and when it does, it's gonna stay.

As far as the other post, I've e-mailed my response. It was a good one. As your "deep thinking" writings always are.

    1. Thanks. I am just so uncomfortable with controversy, I don't ever want any. I'm going to put it up at another location and see what the reaction is, then maybe I'll be brave enough to re-post it here. :-) Our smoke was much better today, hope yours was, too.
